Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (August 18, 2026): The Esports Foundation (EF) has officially announced that the inaugural edition of the Esports Nations Cup (ENC), originally slated to take place in Riyadh this November 2026, will now be postponed to November 2027. The decision was reached following an extensive, ongoing evaluation of the broader regional landscape and detailed strategic consultations with key international stakeholders, national federations, game publishers, and commercial partners.
With more than 100 countries and territories represented across every continent, the ENC stands as one of the most ambitious global gaming initiatives ever conceived. Given the unprecedented international footprint and the logistical complexities involved in mobilizing thousands of athletes and team delegations, the Foundation concluded that shifting the tournament to late 2027 provides the necessary certainty and structural stability that participating national teams and global audiences expect.
The Esports Foundation clarified that Saudi Arabia remains fully equipped and capable of staging major international events, with the nation’s existing sports and entertainment calendars proceeding as scheduled. The revised ENC timeline is intended entirely to safeguard the competitive integrity, production scale, and global participation standards envisioned for the tournament.

Development Fund & National Ecosystem Support Remain Intact
Crucially, the delay does not alter the Esports Foundation’s financial or structural commitments to grass-roots and national programs. All allocated resources under the ENC Development Fund will remain active and fully deployed to support National Team Partners as they continue preparing their rosters and strengthening local infrastructure.
Over the coming weeks and months, the EF will work directly with its global network of partners to establish a smooth transition into 2027. Key priorities during this period include:
- Revised Competition Calendar: Publishing updated schedules for national qualifiers, regional play-ins, and final stage timelines.
